About the School

The smallest institution offering university-level programs in Iceland, established by 40 founding members including all Icelandic higher education institutions. Positioned to bring classrooms into "the world's best laboratory for coastal and marine governance," the Westfjords region is both a traditional hub for fisheries and aquaculture and a sparsely populated frontier community. A member of UArctic, it annually enrolls 70–80 international students. Degrees are jointly awarded with the University of Akureyri.
